NATIONAL SPRING CLEAN WEEK:
Sixmilebridge and Kilmurry took part in this year's annual spring clean. On Saturday, May 3rd, groups from both ends of the parish came out to make a good start to our summer cleanups. Kilmurry participants concentrated on cleaning the main road from Kilmurry village down to Annaghgore Bridge; while Sixmilebridge volunteers concentrated on the village centre, back areas and outside the GAA pitch. The work took several hours, and many bags of litter, cans etc were collected. Many thanks to Betty Devaney of Clare County Council for arranging refreshments in Kilmurry afterwards.
A workshop on composting tookplace in Sixmilebridge School hall on Thursday, November 8th last. This was well attended, and proved very informative and entertaining. We thank Mary Dingley and all those in Clare County Council for their help in organising this event, and hope to have another this year.
We held our AGM on April 24th and had a representative from some of the residents' association to attend.
Work nights have commenced again in April. If interested, come along to the Parochial Hall beside Sixmilebridge Church on Tuesday evenings at 7.00 pm. We hope that all estates around Sixmilebridge continue to look after their own areas as they have been doing so well. We look forward to renewed effort again this year. The daffodils around the village looked great and add a splash of colour.
Walk to Mass Sunday:
We hope to hold an event in the coming months whereby we would encourage everyone to walk to Mass if possible on one particular weekend, to do our bit to minimise our carbon footprint. On that weekend, we hope to have a "cup of tea" in the Parochial Hall to encourage people to stop and have a chat with their neighbours. Please help us to make this event a success.
CHURCH GATE COLLECTION
Our annual church gate collection took place on the weekend of May 24th/25th. Many thanks to those who supported us
SMOKING BAN
Now that the smoking ban has been introduced, we encourage all smokers to use the litter bins provided.
